Bass Structures: The Mark of Sound is an artist collective creating a multidimensional art and music experience exploring the shape of sound. Sound is played through a surface, causing particles in an applied medium to arrange themselves into geometric and/or fractal like patterns. The collective then captures those patterns in various ways to make work displayed in an exhibition setting.
Started in 2010 as an observational exploration of the effects of sound on materials, this body of work is based on research surrounding cymatics. We have made the decision to keep a portion of our portfolio dedicated to this observation. We also create experimental music and collaborate with other musicians and musical groups, to observe what their sounds look like.
